I recently started working on 3D models so I wanted to get into a more in-depth program than just Paint.net like I have been using for textures, so I can have much more control but I can't seem to figure out how to even get my image to a state where I can edit it. No matter what I select in both Designer Persona and Pixel Persona the only thing my cursor shows is the grab hand tool and just moves the image around. I unlocked the layer, tried rasterizing even though it already said pixel layer, and now I'm just at a loss. I opened a new blank project and was able to use the various tools and play around on that but it won't let me edit the image I imported. Any tips on what I'm missing?

Welcome to the forums.
Can you give us one specific example of what you are trying to do and how you are trying to do it, step-by-step?
P.S. Designer leans more towards vector drawing and Photo leans towards pixel manipulation. Are you sure you have the correct application for what you want to do?

I import image, I click on tool(literally any tool), I can't use tool. I unlocked layer, still can't use tools. Even if I wanted to scribble all over it with an art brush, I can't. What I specifically want to do doesn't exactly matter when I literally can't figure out how to do anything since it only lets me grab and move the image around on screen

The program thinks the spacebar key is continuously pressed, hence you only get the "hand" tool

See if any of the solutions in this thread work for you

Also, what Mouse (or pen and tablet) do you use?
