Opacity for Bitmap fills

Recommended Posts

Both solid and gradient fills can have their own opacity, yet bitmap fills don't have this option.

This limits how you can use bitmap fills. For example if you want a solid stroke and a semi-transparent bitmap fill you have to do it as two objects, and it severely limits the way you can blend fills when using multiple fills.

Can we please get an opacity setting for bitmap fills?

If you add a new normal colour Fill in the appearance panel (add it above the Bitmap Fill ) and set the blend mode of that Fill to erase then adjusting that Fill's opacity gives you some degree of control over the "opacity" of the Bitmap Fill layer below it.

Useful for simple adjustments of a Bitmap Fill's "opacity" but beware there be dragons you will need to fight - in more complicated multiple fill scenarios.

I've previously requested an opacity control for each fill/stroke, regardless of the type of fill/stroke :)
