Hello, there is a problem I've encountered numerous times already when using Publisher. Often (not always) I am not able to resize a text frame when I use move tool. The text frame is kinda frozen and doesn't respond to my mouse movements whatsoever. I have noticed that this happens often when I first edit the text inside the frame, and then try to resize it. Once I restart Publisher, it will behave as expected again.

I made a video with my phone, because I couldn't find a way to record my cursor when capturing my desktop.

Hi, @Gabe,

Thanks for your reply! Actually, this happes really often, everyday multiple times a day. But I still haven't figured out what exactly triggers it, maybe multiple things do. But today, I have figured out that once this happes, move tool will stop functioning not only in Publisher, but in Photo, too. Today I was working simultaneously in Publisher and Photo, cropping an image in Photo and then placing a picture frame in Publisher, well, the move tool froze again and I was able to place a picture frame in Publisher, but I wasn't able to move or to adjust it anymore. Then, I turned back to Photo and discovered that I cannot crop the picture, the handles didn't work eventhough I could see the crop frame. Also, it happenes in Photo too, when I sometimes paste an image inside Photo (by using print screen), I cannot do anything with it afterward when I want to use move tool (cannot adjust the size etc.) It seems like all this is connected, like it's the same problem. I will try to track down what exactly makes it behave like this but it's difficult because I do a lot of different actions and then sometimes it just won't react anymore...

Hi, that's right, I am using a graphics tablet that comes with a pen and a mouse, the video that I made was when I was trying to use the mouse that comes with the tablet. The move tool stops responding to both mouse and pen.

When this happens, do you happen to switch between different apps (Alt+Tab) ? Can you use the brush tool when it's in that state?

I do switch a lot between different apps (not by ALT + TAB, but by just simply clicking on the appropriate tab in the menu bar). I am not sure about the brush tool, I will have to pay attention to it when it happens again (I restart the app as soon as the move tool stops responding). However I made a few extra observations: it seems like it's possible to get the move tool working again without having to restart the app!

Maybe the move tool stops functioning when my screen is turned off. At least, I went away from my computer and the move tool in Publisher was working before I left. Then I came back and turned my screen back on - the move tool was not working anymore in Publisher ONLY (Photo was also open and I checked, it worked there as it should). Then I decided to try the brush tool in Publisher by clicking on Photo persona to test what you have suggested and at first it seemed like the brush tool did NOT work (I started painting and got a message from the assistant telling me it created a pixel layer for me but I actually didn't see anything). Then I decided to choose a brush and a black color to be sure that I'm *supposed* to see something, that worked and I was able to paint (pressure sensitivity worked as well). THEN I tried the move tool again on the same text frame that was unresponsive before me trying to paint - and it again was WORKING! I have a feeling that me choosing a brush and a color triggered something and made it work again. I will make more observations especially about the move tool not working in Photo (that doesn't happen as often as it does in Publisher) and whether the brush tool works or not.

Thank you for spending your time on this, I hope that it will be possible to understand what's causing this.

EDIT: Okay, got it happening in Photo in the meanwhile. The move tool didn't react to my mouse, the brush tool DID react and I could paint, then I used my pen again to check the pressure sensitivity (it worked fine), then I tried the move tool with the pen and it WORKED again, also it started working again with my mouse. So maybe this issue has something to do with my mouse which is a tablet mouse, not a regular mouse, and somewhere along the line the move tool stops responding to it...

We believed we've fixed this issue a long time ago. Our next beta will have a different tablet back end code, so it's worth trying it there and see if you still have this issue.
