Hey all,

This is my first post here and my first day of trialing Affinity Photo.
I just had a query about exporting to PSD with mask layers.
It seems that when exporting a file from Affinity that includes layer masks as a .psd , when opening the .psd in Photoshop the masks don't come through properly?
eg, it becomes a transparent layer with nothing on it.

Is this not supported? Do the programs handle masks differently?

Hi @JosNZ,

Welcome to the forums and my sincerest apologies for the delayed response here.

I can confirm that Masks are implemented slightly differently between Affinity and Photoshop, however masks should be supported on export to PSD - however certain functions are not supported and this is when masks may be rasterised on export.

Could you please provide a sample .afphoto file, and a screenshot of your export settings to PSD where this is the case?

Many thanks in advance :)

Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave.

If you require urgent assistance, please create a new thread and a member of our team will be sure to assist asap.

Many thanks :)
