Hey all,

Question for anyone with both the Mac and iPad versions of Photo. Has anyone every noticed a difference in the processing of an HDR image between the platforms?

I’ve been using the iPad version for a little while and really wanted to try the Mac version to see if it sped up my productivity. I have an HDR merge that I always use as a comparison and thought I’d try it on both systems.

Being that the interfaces are so similar, I dialed in the same tone map for both merges and had different results. The iPad had lost a lot of the detail and the Mac was much brighter. I can dial them into about the same but; being an engineer, I had expected that if I perform the exact same steps, in the same order; the results should be identical. The file sizes were also 4MB different (50MB vs 54MB) but they were both using the same source files.

Anyone have any tips?

Thank you

Hi @GeicoGecko,

Welcome to the forums and my apologies for the delayed response here.

This may be due to the different screens that you're viewing the document on - so I'd like to try using your test images to create a merge on Mac, Windows & iPad, each using the same settings. I'll then save & export each document, then open both the .afphoto files and the exports on the same monitor to rule this variable out.

Can you please upload your images used to create your merge to the following link for me?

Once completed, please reply here to let me know & provide any further information/settings that you feel may be useful.

Many thanks in advance :)

No worries, appreciate the reply. I have uploaded the original 3 files as well as the outputs from the MacBook and the iPad. I've been comparing them on the same screen so hopefully this information helps you.

I love Affinity Photo so keep up the great work!
