safoster71
I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious - but it seems Designer does not recognize fonts that are loaded after Designer is ran. Is there a way to get newly loaded fonts listed, or do i have to quit/restart every time?

This is a very old thread, from the days when the Affinity apps were available for Mac only. On my Windows system, the font cache is updated automatically when I load or unload fonts. I don't know about the Windows versions but it still exists in the Mac ones: However, as I understand it (& I may well be wrong) this just resets the font substitution list. As @Alfred said, there should not normally be any need to reload fonts in current versions. Erica
Hi guys, thanks for the answers....yes Alfred, I have a problem with fonts updating. I'm running Affinity Designer 1.6.5.135 (which I believe is the latest?) on Windows 10. If I open Affinity Designer 1st and my font manager afterwards (Fontbase) the fonts do not update...which is why I was searching around (even in very old threads) related to this issue. My Preferences>Miscellaneous menu is missing the Reset Fonts option which RCR says may not be the answer anyway; ideally I would not have to manually do anything; they would just update automatically. I do get the "updating Font Cache" notification, but my fonts in my file stay in whatever the generic font is that AD substitutes when it can't find the font. Any thoughts why fonts are not updating for me? Thanks in advance.... Erica

Any thoughts why fonts are not updating for me? I’m afraid I slightly misspoke, Erica! Although the program’s font cache does update for me (so it can ‘see’ newly loaded fonts without my having to relaunch it) I find that I do have to close and reopen any files containing fonts which were identified as missing. Oh...that is disappointing. But neither do I have the ¨Reset Fonts¨ option, although possibly not a fix, available to me....?

I don’t recall seeing the ‘Reset Fonts’ option in my Windows versions of the apps, at least not in version 1.6. Maybe that is a Mac-only thing? All I know for sure is on my Mac all the apps (including the betas) have that option in the Miscellaneous preferences. That said, I don't know what that "Reset Fonts" actually does in the Mac versions -- it does not reset the font substitution list, as I first thought; neither does it reset the favorite fonts list or a saved font default or anything else I am aware of. The Mac Preferences help topic says nothing about it, other than "... Fonts can be reset to factory defaults."
