Alex PR
Hello everyone! I cannot install Nik Collection 3 on my MAC. I just followed the instructions in the "Using plugins" video tutorial from the Affinity website. First, I installed Nik Collection 3. Then, I add them to the Affinity photo plugins. Then I restart the APP and when trying to use the plugins an Affinity does not appear. Any suggestions? Thanks!

ColinG
Have just installed but cannot see reason to upgrade to version 3 if it is only going to be used with AP. None of the additional benefits that are available to Ps, Lr and even C1 seem to be available in Affinity, not even the brush tool.
Alex PR
So far it seems that all the tools you would need exists in Affinity. It's just a different workflow. I'm curious, What are the benefits you mention as unavailable in AF?
ColinG
It appears you do not understand the functionality of the Nik (V3) plugins and masking within them. Anyway within Ps, Lr and C1 the plugins can be set to make non-destructive edits (similar to Ps smart objects) so you can come back and continue editing later. Also the NIk control point masking is enhanced with brush masking being available, but that only applies to Ps and not Lr or C1. None of this is available if using Nik with AP. Alex PR
I'm new to affinity photo and maybe I'm mistaken, but NIk effects can all be applied as non-destructive live filter layers.
ColinG
Yes maybe, and it is the same in Ps, but the plugins now have added functionality that makes using that route redundant. It is the basis upon which V3 of Nik is being sold. My point is that there is no point in upgrading as the new functionality does not work in Affinity. That is, no point in upgrading if you only work with Nik via Affinity Photo. Actually, I am not sure you can use Nik via the live filters in Affinity. You certainly can in Ps. I could be mistaken as I use Affinity rarely but I cannot see a way to do it 🙂
firstdefence
And a small heads up is that the Perspective efex doesn’t work. Whether that’s a doesn’t work yet or a won’t ever work is a moot point. ColinG
Think I'll just have to stick with Ps, at least for a while. Thanks.
