AntiqueFlaneur
I understand Publisher doesn't have footnote/endnote/annotation capabilities, but I'm wondering about work arounds. The book I'm laying out has 3-6 annotations per chapter, and I think putting them at the end of each chapter is a better option than cramming them at the end of the book. What's my best bet for creating the "endnote," style numerals to note that the end note is available at the end of the chapters? Anything else to consider when creating the frame texts for the endnotes? Any good guides been written on workarounds?
DavidM
Just a (reiterated) note to Affinity: without a footnote/endnote capability, I cannot switch to this fine application from InDesign.
v_kyr
Well there a bunch of sources which give some advice for these things, especially also certain universities here for writing technical papers, bibliographies and the like. - Just a few information sources ... Citing sources with Chicago style footnotes Footnotes and Endnotes Footnotes, Endnotes and Bibliography, Oh my! (PDF) Citiations & Bibliography University of Arkansas (hints) Zotero Zotero style repository ... and so on ... For APub one has to resemble such things manually with the help of styles and it's common formating capabilities. For the emulation of certain annotation listings it might also be possible to misuse it's TOC/index generation. - Other than that it's probably (maybe) also possible to import and take over external generated annotions then via RTF. However, in the long end APub will need it's own implementation for book projects, so file seperation capabilities for cover, toc, chapters, index, biblography etc. and for those then an implementation of footnotes/endnotes/bibliography/table of figures/... etc. numbering styles which will then also works across all involved book project seperated files. gutenbar 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.

v_kyr
You can try to setup some custom styles with superscript & subscript and/or a two line layout for such purposes.
