eric u
When holding 'option' and dragging an object to copy it, the copied object doesn't snap to any guides. I have to release it first and then move it again to position it to snap. It should be able to snap as I drag the copied version to where I want it. This adds a redundant step to copying an object. Staff Gabe Posted May 29, 2020 Staff Share Posted May 29, 2020 Hi @eric u, You only need to release ALT once you start dragging. When you move objects, holding down ALT ignores Snapping. walt.farrell
Holding Option while dragging (or Alt on Windows) is defined as making a copy and ignoring snapping. If you want to copy and still snap, i think you could use Cmd instead of Opt, as shown in the status bar. eric u 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.

What I do is hold Option/Alt click and drag then release Option and I have a copy and snapping is enabled as I continue to drag. eric u 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. Thanks — I'll do that. New user coming from indesign, so figuring out new ways of doing things.
