Text on Elliptical Path, Tilt Top of Text Inward

Recommended Posts

If I put some text on and elliptical path, how can I tilt all of the text so the tops of the letters are not splayed outward as much?

For example, one attached files shows Inkscape text "SUMMERS" on an elliptical path, but the text is oriented so it is more upward rather than splayed out like the other file from Affinity Designer shows.

Hi and welcome to the forums @MackSix,

There is no easy way to do this seemingly simple job. How I would do it (and to be truthful I wouldn't do it) involves using Photo as well as Designer. In Photo you would have to rasterize the word summers and then use the Mesh Warp Tool.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks @Old Bruce

I just started learning Inkscape and their new v1.0 is horrible and won't even give me a uniform outline around stretched text. I had to go backwards and use v0.92.5 to get that simple job done. v1.0 crashed on me 4 or 5 times in 2 days too. I have had enough of Inkscape and am looking at Designer now. :D

Hey @Old Bruce I figured out a way to do what I wanted in Designer. I was stretching the text tall, so If I put the text on a flatter curve and then Convert to Curves, when I stretch the height, it does not splay out, giving the same result. The trick is, you have to put the text on the right curve so when you stretch it, it gives you the desired curve afterwards, because as you stretch it, the curve increases.
