timhuynhis
I've been working on this file for several weeks. Last night I made some changes and went to open it up this morning and got a "The file is not supported." error message. I've been searching all day for a solution without any luck. I'm on Windows 10 and the file was created in Affinity Publisher 1.8.3.641 and is about 104.9mb. I'm in desperate need of help or any type of advice, as my client is expecting to see the design on Thursday afternoon, there's really not enough time to recreate what I have in this file. Can anyone please advise me as to what my options are or how to recover this file. Thank you in advance. CryoFactory_Logo.afpub

timhuynhis
v_kyr, I do not believe that the version I have of Publisher is a beta version and no unfortunately I do not have a backup of the file.

That's bad, since in case your APub doc is now possibly irreparably damaged, all your work so far is gone. - I can only advice to always make continuously some versioned backup copies after each working session. For your APub file you have to wait and see if someone can possibly rescue that one, maybe you are lucky and some Affinity rep can restore something with chance (though honestly I won't bet on that). Since I don't use APub I can't give it a try, someone else has to dive in here. timhuynhis
Thank you for trying v_kry. I do hope someone who has APub and the ability to recover the file can give it a shot. But thanks again for trying.

Staff MEB Posted May 28, 2020 Staff Share Posted May 28, 2020 Hi timhuynhis, Welcome to Affinity Forums Was this file stored (and being directly worked on) on Google Drive or Google Drive File Stream, Dropbox or any other cloud sync service folder? Or was it on a NAS, USB external drive/stick? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
timhuynhis
@Pšenda I did try opening it in both Designer and Photo and got the same error message. @MEB The file was stored and worked on directly from a USB 3 SSD HD. When I got the error message, I placed it on the desktop and tried opening it from there with no luck.
Staff MEB Posted May 29, 2020 Staff Share Posted May 29, 2020 Hi @timhuynhis I've passed the file to the dev team to see if we can recover it. Do you use any antivirus/firewall software? Is that drive (or folders) synchronised with any cloud storage service? (I know i've asked a similar question before just need to make sure the drive has no folder/data being syncronized with cloud services). Thanks. Please check you PM's. timhuynhis
@MEB I have BitDefender for anti-virus. The file is stored on an external HD which I work directly from without any synchronization from the cloud. MEB
Regina
Publisher will not open any files - even ones it opened before. My files are stored on a 5T WD external HD. My AP is 1.8.3.641 for Windows 10. Should I uninstall and reinstall AP?

Was it possible to recover the file? I have the exact same problem. I've been working on the project for weeks. Only yesterday I made a backup version on an external hard disk and then I continued working directly from the hard drive (without any synchronization from the cloud) until noon today. In the afternoon I suddenly could no longer open the file because it says "The file is not supported". I copied the new version to my desktop but – with no luck there either. The old version was still ok at this time. Now I wanted to pick up the work on the old version from before yesterday. But now this one is damaged as well! It shows me the same error message. Meanwhile I updated AP to the version 1.10.4. I am working under MacOS Big Sur 11.6. The file still says 17,7 MB and still shows me "Last Modified 11:20". I am grateful for any help! Joshua Malco
I have the same issue right now. The file still has it size and I've edited it yesterday. But now it's displaying the error. I've attached the file below. Hope you can help me recover these files. PR LinkedIn - 1by1.afdesign PR LinkedIn - 191by1.afdesign
k2krichards
Yes, HELP! I have several documents that the pictures are not loading. I've had no problems before. I even try to add a new picture (png or jpg) and it says file not supported. All my pictures are blurred in my document!
