search image block UI Thread

Recommended Posts

When I use the built-in image search panel to search for image material and then drag it into the current file, the network request block the UI thread. If the network is not good, the software will be blocked for a very very long time, and eventually you will be forced to shut down the software and take the risk of losing what you are working on.

this problem happen in all of affinity software on windows.

I noticed this too. It would be nice if only a preview could be dragged out of the stock panel, which could be replaced on my command with a higher resolution image. Right now you always get the best resolution, but maybe I don't need the best resolution.

I did mention this to the developers at some point. I think there is room for improvement. On my decent spec machine I can see a delay of about 6 or so seconds where I cannot interact with the app.

I haven't had to shut down the software though but I have a decent connection.
