and just noticed (I have trial ver from yesterday) than pdf file (120 pages)  is OPENNING very slow (about 5 minutes) and when it is loaded I cant work on it without crashes and freezes.  My question is: If the paid version of Affinity Publisher has the same problems?

There isn't any difference in the tryout or bought version, so yes those problems will persist.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

But any solution you find with the trial will also be applicable.  Asking the direct question, with a more meaningful title such as "APub very slow to load PDF" will probably get you some potential solutions.

And your solution is?

@AnnM A 120 pages PDF file maybe also containing a bunch of images etc. will have some size. When Affinity Publisher opens (imports) that PDF file it has to parse and interpret the PDF file contents, which depending on the size of that PDF file and your computer's hardware equipment (a slower older or faster performing newer one, slow or faast CPU, much or less RAM etc.) might take some time. - But the point here is, that the tryout APubublisher version isn't different from a bought/licensed one in the regard of overall functionality/behavior, the tryout version is just time limited in usage. So if the APublisher tryout version is slow performing on your Win or Mac computer system (also crashing and freezing a lot etc.) then a licensed/bought version will too, since other then the tryout time limit there is no difference for that application.

Alas, I don't have one!  I'm just suggesting that since @AnnM has a problem, asking for help to fix it is a way forward.  I'm also assuming that crashing and freezing aren't inherent characteristics of APub i.e. there is a solution.

Hi I want to appologize. I have turned off my VPN and clean some cookies and changed some processes (dont know if it helped) - Apub is now working very fast on my PDF file (120 pages). I think that it will be working properly. I know I need to learn MANY topics/trics so dont be angry with me cause I am going to ask some more questions :). First of course I will try find the answer on the forum. Kind wishes - ann

I'm assuming that was for me - I wasn't blaming anybody for anything. I'm sorry if I gave that impression!

Not that I am saying anybody will, but you should ignore anybody that gets angry because you ask more questions because that is exactly what this forum is for. If it was not, it would not have "Questions" in its name!!!!

If you have standard HD, replace it with SSD. You should choose it carefully because there are SSD that read/write at 500 MB speed and others with 3,500 MB which is 7x faster.

Hi Petar I have SSD. The second one... first has been damaged after power failure. I have add external disc; but I think the BIG problem is with VPN and Avast. Thank You!
