Hi,

Leading, which is set in text style, can't be changed localy with "Paragraph > Spacing".

Often issues that are reported where leading can't be changed are related to either the Baseline Grid being active, or a Leading Override being specified in the Character panel.

Character panel:

Note that mine shows with ( ) around it, which means it is a default value. If you have anything without those parentheses, it was set specifically and overrides the defaults.

4. Edit the style;
5. Try to change the "space before".

It works only if you right click on the paragraph style and select "Apply to the paragraphs". And only on that one. Also, notice, that only first red paragraph is left aligned to "0" and the other three have the "left indent" set to "5".

In mine paragraph style under character settings, I can enter any numeric value, but I can't fix it to "Auto".

I would set it to [No Change]. I'm not sure what Auto would do, but [No Change] is the default value.

It still doesn't work.

I don't know what is the purpose of "No change" when it must have a numeric value, or "Auto".

"No Change" says "inherit from the parent style, whatever that is", and is used to ensure that if changes are made to the parent style they apply automatically to any child styles. If a specific value is entered, then it applies even if the parent is changed, which is usually not what I would want.

Hello @Petar Petrenko,

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you have overrides in all of your styles.

Please have a look at the short video. It may shed some light at why things don't work as you 'd expect.

I think you need to fix your styles first before trying to create the table of contents because as you'll notice once you delete the overrides the TOC entry disappears.

Choosing "Auto" in the Character panel sets the override to be identical to whatever leading is specified in the Paragraph panel for that paragraph -- IOW, no override. It won't display as "Auto." Instead, the value will be enclosed in parentheses to indicate it is automatically using the paragraph value.

You can also set it to auto/no override by either deleting whatever is in the leading override field & tabbing to another filed or replacing whatever is there with "()" -- just a pair of opening & closing parentheses with nothing between them.
