I have tried to use a 2k texture with 400 dpi and it has the same effect.

I think there is confusion over what the real problem is.

The document in which you will be painting needs sufficient pixel density for its end use.

Create your texture image with the same pixel density as the document in which it will be used, such that the pattern is at the required size when at that pixel density. The actual dpi value of the texture image is irrelevant;  this matching of dpi value is just to ensure that you create a texture where each pixel of the texture will fill one pixel of the document in which it will be used.

Do not use the scaling slider in the brush's base texture controls; it needs to be at 100% to prevent resampling of your texture.

How did you manage to get it to work into a square? I couldn't get the right dimensions.

Make new document 2k/72dpi. Put 3 bricks (1:2 in scale=400x200px) horizontally seamless in a row - group - align vertical/horizontal - rotate 45° - scale with shift/cmd to fit diagonally - ungroup - reset rotation of the middle brick - enable outline view - double bricks and align accordingly till the page is filled - export to PNG - done.

Hi

I have had a play with the pattern concept and created a few samples
Took me a while to get the slice to work correctly! and get how to get a working tessellation into a square...but here we go...

Yeah, it too me some time to figure those things out too. Still did not manage to make them working in a square.

Thanks!

How did you add nozzles? for me it's grayed out.

I use an 'intensity brush' for all my raster brushes....but have not used the sub brush in this case..it works once you get the hang of the pattern. It's the direction that is a bit awkward...Had the same problem with isometric brushes a while ago..

I am extending the brush set to include 400dpi/848px square for the base pattern + 2 /4 /6 /8 /10 line width...nearly finished!:)..should improve the quality!

Good excellent...its fun!..but can be annoying with weird issues! I come across them all the time...
I would avoid trying to add large images that you cannot really control and instead use a simple repeating pattern.

So to make own you need a 'pattern making template' but the size is a bit off on this one just to get it to tessellate. Create vector shapes rather than raster..then they can be manipulated.

I have found a single tutorial similar to what I need and he provided this trample, This is exactly how I build patterns. I change the look of it as I don't need other graphics in my workflow and for the brick pattern I did not use a square as I could not manage to make it fit inside of one.

Also, since you this good with creating pattern brushes why the Holy Mother of Tarzan you don't make a tutorial? Or the secret knowledge shall not be share (with a black lambo in the background)?

I think he gave a written tutorial few posts up, give enough brushes that we can look at them and do similar brushes. Give a lot of informations and explanations in other posted threads… where he gives brushes.

But perhaps I misunderstood your tone and take it the bad way?

WOW! what can I say Thanks for That. O.o

First you ask why and how to make it better...to which you get several replies explaining the problem and why it not working correctly! All of which are along the same lines regarding the method you have used and results you are subsequently witnessing..

All are summarily dismissed in sequence..I have made an effort today to try and help you..and this is how you respond...well good luck with your efforts I am sure they will succeed...!

...and sharing..xD...You should search the forumI think that you might find a few resources that I have shared!

@StuartRc And last but not least: I completely forgot to mention the specific brushes you did and shared in this thread:

That's Ok ..It was an interesting puzzle to solve....:)....Some patterns look simple but turn out a bit harder to achieve. The Isometric brushes  were difficult and presented a similar issue where the patterns just would not fit in a square...but I worked around this one by setting a 45 degree grid to work out how large the square needed to be to repeat correctly...well it worked anyway...

I am always sharing brushes!:)

Thanks... They have evolved a lot since I started the Library...The way they are presented has changed over the past year...

Think I will go back to working on Camouflage III.....it's safer!
