BRlombardi
Hi. My AF Designer is crashing when I try to merge some curves using the Add button on top menu bar. I could do it without problems in Adobe Illustrator using the Pathfinder tool. I tried it some times and all of them I get the same problem; Designer keeps loading then just broke. Does anyone know what it is happening? Am I doing something wrong?
Staff Sean P Posted May 26, 2020 Staff Share Posted May 26, 2020 Hi BRlombardi, Would you be able to attach a copy of the document shown in the screenshot please? These issues are normally reliant on the document, so without these we cannot reproduce it. BRlombardi
BRlombardi
Hi Sean. Yes sure. I'm sending the file right now. I really appreciate the help! Thank you so much. 184.eps
Staff Sean P Posted August 6, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 6, 2020 Hi BRlombardi, Apologies for the delay in responding. Looking at the EPS it actually has an embedded AI file that contains (from a quick look) slightly better and more overlapping geometry. This will create nicer results when attempting to use Boolean operation. However we cannot read the native AI file inside so have to read the backup EPS data that Illustrator has exported. Unfortunately this has made the curves not particularly nice, and there are many instances where the paths of one object are close to the next, but not exact, so when you do the operation, you actually get 1000s of nodes created because of this 'fringe' gap. With that said though I wasn't getting any crashing, just it taking a minute or so to do the operation.
