Jileha
Affinity Photo v.1.8.3.641 I cannot save my project files. Every time I get the message: Failed to load document. Access to the document's file was lost while performing initial loading. The document must now be closed. A file loading error when trying to save... The target file is created in the folder, but no data written to it. I lose all the edits. This is a new AP install on a new laptop (Windows 10 64 bit), i.e. I have never successfully saved a project file. I haven't made any changes to default settings. Any idea what's causing this issue? On my old laptop (Windows 10, 64 bit, same version), saving works without issues. (On this computer, though, the image displays in the develop persona way too dark. If I don't edit anything, just click develop, the image is displayed as I would expect it to be.)
v_kyr
Hi, where (what folder location, local or remote, access rights etc.) do you try to save the files into? - This here ... 1 hour ago, Jileha said: Access to the document's file was lost while performing initial loading. Jileha
It's a folder on my hard drive, not shared. No connection involved.
chippwalters
I, too am experiencing similar problems. What is wrong with Affinity's saving scheme that it can't save files to places others can?
chippwalters
Be nice if there was a fix.
chippwalters
I ended up uninstalling designer, restarting, re-installing designer, restarting and have been using it for hours without the problem. Not sure if it's gone, but I haven't seen it yet. Callum

And when I try to open the empty file, I get the message: The file type is not supported. Although it's an afphoto file. chippwalters
I think your problem is different than mine. I would definitely check your hard drive to see if there are any problems with it. Also, check to make sure you have write privileges to the folder you're saving too. Try saving to the desktop and see if that doesn't work. Or, try saving to my documents folder. Jileha
I do have full administrator rights on all my folders. It is a relatively new laptop with an SSD, and none of my other image editing software I use has any issues whatsoever when saving project files and there are also no other indications that there might be a problem with the SSD. One would think that the nature of the error messages might provide some insights as to what is wrong to the designers. If I cannot get any help with this problem, I'll end up with two copies of AP on two separate computers and cannot use either one of them due to different issues. I love AP, but this will force me to switch to different software.

You can find out how to check this here Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
Jileha
Thanks! That gives me something to work with. I cannot see the page in question, most likely because my 3rd party antivirus sw is blocking it. I will deinstall this and hopefully I can access this setting. Later: Controlled folder access is off. I assume this is the setting we want, correct? So this is not it, then.
