I need to measure distances and I seem to be missing some sort of tape measure tool. So resorted using the selection tool and selecting the area I want to measure but I don't see any information either that would give me some sort of readout of the W/H of the selected area.

I can see that the info panel is showing the width and height of the selection AS I DRAG, but as soon as I let the mouse/trackpad go, the readout for W/H disappears.

Hi Pentool,

It is not possible at the moment. However it has been requested quite a few times. The only way to measure objects at the moment is to draw a straight line and look at the measurements of it in the Transform tab at the bottom lefthand side of the app.

Hi Vina,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

This was already implemented. With an object selected press ⌘ (cmd) on Mac (CTRL key if you are using Windows) them move the mouse cursor around. Affinity Designer/Photo will display the distance between the objects/canvas etc

Can the measures displayed by holding CTRL be "baked in", i.e. saved visible with the file? As I work now, I draw my technical drawing and save as PDF, and then use the measure tool in Adobe Acrobat - is this not yet possible in AD, create the classic double arrow with the measures as an object or overlay?

Hi all, long term user of other software but new to AD having recently purchased it on the iPad (loving it by the way, still learning, but the tutorial videos you guys have produced have been a huge help). Anyway... to my point :)

Is there a way to do this on the iPad? To measure the space between objects quickly and fluidly. I have achieved it through workarounds (creating an object the size of the space I want in between and also using the distribution tool, setting the space to a sepecific size etc). But just wondered if there is a quicker method to quickly see the spacing between objects as I know other software can do this with their smart guides, and hovering and such but realise there could be limitations on an iPad.

Thanks in advance and apologies for the long message and for resurrecting an old post.
