Affinity Photo - working on two images

Recommended Posts

Is there a way in Affinity Photo to lock two separate images horizontally or vertically and work back & forth between them as in Photoshop?

I thought at first that the "Float" feature would permit that but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in quite the same simple way.

Nor have I discovered how to pick a colour in the inkwell of one image and use it directly in the other. I have to keep jotting down the RGB values and entering them across.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

If you're on Windows then Float should provide what you need, though you will have to perform the window sizing and layout manually. However, the documents are separate, and as you have noticed that means completely separate. None of the tools nor tool settings are shared, nor are the color wells, etc.

Windows and MAC have different processes. My wish is command to open a reference image without the need to float on Windows or Separate Mode Mac.  Corel Painter has this ability and works great to visualize the original, sample colors, etc.

Agreed - I think being able to directly bring up a reference image and copy colours across from it is highly desirable. Hopefully to be incorporated into IP in the not-too distant future.

Having to manually jot down colour values and enter them across manually has a distinctly olde worlde feel about it!
