Hi and welcome to the forums @crijoh,

Which application are you using? Are the greyed out pics images you have placed in a document and are they on a remote server or stored in the 'cloud'? That can cause problems.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I have a vague recollection of something like this from my early days of early InDesign, it was caused by a layered image and one of the layers was a filter or adjustment which when removed allowed the image to show. Essentially an unsupported file format. What is the format of the image, does it have layers, could you possibly post it here as an attachment? Possible that it is corrupted in some manner or other.
