Microsoft Store vs Affinity store prices (discount)

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I want to buy with the discount, Photo, Designer and Publisher for Windows. Do I get the same software if I buy them from the Microsoft Store as from the Affinity Store?

I ask this since Microsoft is a little cheaper

It’s perhaps worth noting that the Microsoft Store version can only be installed on Windows 10, and you need to be signed in to your Microsoft account. The Affinity Store version can be installed on any machine running Windows 10, 8.1 or 7 (SP1 with the latest platform update) and all you need is the installer file and your product key.

That is surprising. I thought they were supposed to be the same price.

In any case, depending on your exact needs, the sandboxing of the Microsoft Store applications can cause some issues. For example, if you want to tell some other application to open an image in Affinity Photo, that is difficult if you bought Photo from the Microsoft Store rather than from Serif.

Also, if you may ever want to revert to an older version of the application, you should purchase from Serif, as reverting to older versions of the program is not possible with the Microsoft Store version.
