Yes, for instance, you can do this when creating a new file. Make you custom size setting and save as a custom preset. Next time you want that size, just select from presets. What I want to do is add common social media sizes to the Artboard presets so that I can have a document with the various sizes in. So add to the presets in the screenshot. I just tried Export as Template on a document with two different artboard sizes in it and it worked fine... My workaround would be to create a template doc with one of each of the artboard sizes and duplicate/delete specific sizes as desired for each project.
