PeteC Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I think this is a small bug. I used the word naiive and wanted to spell it naïve. I used character map to copy the ï and pasted it into my Publisher document. It copied OK but there's a carriage return/line feed inserted after it every time. It's reproducible for me. My font is Cambria Regular 11pt. Quote
Alfred Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Pete. I’m not on my Windows machine right now so I can’t confirm the bug that you’re reporting, but I wondered if you still get a line break after the ï if you copy and paste the word ‘naïve’ from either your post or mine in this thread. I like and use TypeIt.org for characters which aren’t available from my keyboard. SPaceBar Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Hi @PeteC Welcome to the forum. Can I check what version of Publisher you are using please? Quote
walt.farrell Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Does it help if you copy the character from Publisher's glyph browser? In any case, I do not see the problem you've described. I can paste a ï from Windows Character Map into text in Publisher and I get only that character, with nothing added. PeteC Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 Hi, thanks for replying. My version is the latest, I think - v1.8.3.641 Publisher's glyph browser -- no, everything works fine there. My display is a 4K monitor and sometimes the characters are very hard to read. ï ï These are from Character Map and work fine here. But doing the same paste in Publisher adds CR + LF as I've described. My system is quite generic - I'm still on Windows 7 Prof 64bit with all auto-updates until support ended last year. I run Kaspersky Anti-virus, Ad Blocker, Ghostery. I should add that I'm a rank amateur, not used to DTP except using Serif Page Plus a bit. Maybe I've created a style without realising it. I admit I'm finding Publisher hard going. I'm considering going back to my word processor, Lotus Word Pro from 20 years ago, still the best! Quote

SPaceBar Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Hi @Pete C We've managed to recreate the issue and a bug has been logged. I would recommend using one of the other methods mentioned above as a workaround in the meantime. Alfred 1 Quote
PeteC Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 Oh, that's gratifying. I wasn't imagining it after all. It's no problem, as you say, there are ways around it and it's not as if I use it regularly. Thanks for following up. SPaceBar 1 Quote
