Gregory Dubus
Hi, I have a picture in jpg containing one of my artwork being framed. As it is very costly to get a picture on jpg of my artworks framed, I would like to use the jpg picture of one of my artwork framed in order to then replace the artwork by another artwork keeping the frame. So, I could get pictures of the same frame but having different artworks available. I have spent quite some time trying but without success. So does somebody could explain me how to do it in affinity? Note: I may have to also understand how to change the length and wide of the artworks in order to fit within the frame. So, need to understand it too. Thanks in advance for your help as I am currently struggling... Greg.
GarryP
Welcome to the forums. You can probably do what you want to do but how easy it will be really depends on various things such as how the image has been photographed – what angle, how it’s lit, etc. – and how complex the frame is. It could be as simple as making a selection from your photograph, removing the selected pixels, and putting the new image underneath, or it could be much more complex. Would you be able to show us what the photograph looks like?
Gregory Dubus
Hi Garry, On the second picture, you can see the artwork framed. My objective is to replace the artwork by the other artwork which is visible in the first picture having a similar white border. Clear? Hoping that you can help me. Thanks, Greg. GarryP
In this particular case, with a simple frame, you have at least two options and each of these two options could be achieved in multiple ways. Option 1 would be to remove the painting from the image and replace it with another. Option 2 would be to create the frame from scratch within the software and insert your painting into that. Option 1 could be quicker than option 2 but, because the photo hasn’t been taken in a way where the subject is absolutely face-on (so it’s not totally ‘squared-up’), some manipulation may be necessary. Option 2 requires more work but may give, depending on how well it is done, a more pleasing overall effect and may be easier to use for multiple paintings. I’ve attached a very quick mock-up of Option 2. It will need tweaking to make it more realistic but it’s there to see what you think. If you don’t like that option then say so and someone will be able to describe how to do Option 1 instead. Or someone might give you another option. rectangular_black_frame.afphoto
GarryP
Here’s a slightly more realistic version. (It’s an AFDESIGN file but can be opened by any Affinity application.) The image in the file is deliberately low-res to keep the file size down, and to remind you to use a different image. rectangular_black_frame2-low-res.afdesign
