Context Menu overlap - right or wrong?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I think this is  a bug - I have a floating Studio Tool - Pages - and when I try to change the text font it is hidden behind this floating tool. However - when I go to font weight, it overlaps the tool window. Which I believe is the right behaviour. Because as of now I need to move the Pages window to the side every single time to see available fonts. Not good.

See screenshots.

Cheers!

David

I have my pages panel docked to the left side and so this problem is gone. If you must have the pages panel undocked (for whatever reason, the way you work etc) you can double click on the tab and it will collapse down to just the height of the word Pages, then a single click on the word Pages will expand it again. You can also set up a shortcut to show hide the Pages panel and or set up the pages panel in the left studio and then set up a shortcut for the left studio to show hide.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Separated mode is still someway imperfect. I always wonder why the Tools are allowed to be hidden behind toolbar or panels. Just as example:

I am confident it might get fixed with the hidden Open window which recently was logged.

With a laptop and a 2nd monitor it makes sense to use the screen space efficiently. Especially then even savable panel settings would be useful, e.g. one for only 1 screen.

I didn't have Pages panel docked because with most of the documents I worked on I only used it time to time. And since working on the laptop I need that extra space all the time.

I guess I'll have it docked from now on then. My point however was that it's weird that the panel is above one contextual menu and below another menu. At least the behaviour should be consistent. And apparently it can be shown above the menu - this should be normal behaviour. Even when collapsed it is still above the font menu - looks really cool. :-)))

Agreed, I've passed this on (although I also personally always leave it docked, but I could see how it can be annoying)

How do I hide the pages panel?

You can show and hide the pages panel using the menu View->Studio->Pages, or you could also assign a keyboard shortcut to the same item, which I think is what Bruce was suggesting. To do so, go to the preferences, and set your desired shortcut there.

Alternatively to hiding single panels only we also can set shortcuts to hide …

  •  complete panel sets (left or right)
  •  both panel sets
  •  both panel sets + the 3 bars

Menu View > Studio > …

Note: for some situations / dialog windows you need to use the hide commands before opening the window because otherwise the hide commands won't work / are grayed-out.

How do I hide the pages panel?  I did it when I first started using Affinity, but don't remember how I did it.  It popped back up when I reset my Studio Panel.

Thank you so much for your reply!  I've been too swamped to spend too much time fiddling with that.  So far I can't seem to figure it out; I will try again next week when I can come up for air!

Thank you!  I will try it.
