tonyk11 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 I'm trying to get items added to my Asset Panel. I cannot find the filetypes or rules for the panel. For instance, I'm trying to put some RAW files (NEF) and TIFF files into my panel and they will not add. I looked at the help file, but I didn't find any info on it. Quote
walt.farrell Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 You should be able to drag TIFF files from File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) into the Assets panel, assuming you have a category and subcategory defined in the panel. How have you tried to add them, and what happened? What OS do you use? However, it does not seem to be possible to do that with NEF files. And, in general, I would recommend not putting NEF (or other RAW) files into the Assets panel even if it were allowed. RAW files need to go through Develop processing before they are usable, and that is only done correctly (today) if you use File > Open in Photo or run it through File > New Batch Job in Photo. tonyk11 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. carl123 Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I can't drag TIF files (1 F) into the assets panel but TIFF files (2 Fs) can be dragged into the assets panel OK Both types can be placed into the document and added to the assets panel via "add from selection" I can't drag RAW files to assets but I can place them into the document and then add them via "add from selection"But I suspect they are no longer truly RAW files doing it that way tonyk11 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. They are poorly developed normal image files. I would definitely use File > Open to get them properly developed, then add them to the Assets panel at that point. (Though, personally, I would rather keep images in my normal file system, and not use the Assets panel for them.) Thanks for the info about TIF vs TIFF. tonyk11 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. tonyk11 Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 Thank you guys for your responses. I see that the files are actually ".tif" files and not ".tiff" files. I think I'll just convert them and see if that works. I'm trying to build a set of template files for producing marketing materials, and the templates are saved as ".tif" files. Thanks for your help, again. Quote
