wonderings
There is another thread where someone asked a question about merging layers. When I see these I give it a go in Designer or Publisher to see how it compares to Illustrator and Indesign. In this case it seems completely different. Any new object placed in Publisher or Designer make its a new "layer" according to the Layer box. Now if I am working on a pocket folder lets say. My current way is having the die line I am using on a die layer, I can turn this off and on easily and can lock it so it is not in the way but it is always in front. I might have some spot coating that needs to go on in different places, again I would have a spot layer with multiple spot images in one layer. Lots of functionality in Adobes setup. How do I do this with Designer or Publisher? Is the use of Layers different and I should be looking elsewhere to group images or dies or spots into separate layers? I am guessing it is just a terminology issue, but I have no clue how to achieve this in Affinity.
GarryP
If you can give a simpler explanation of what you want to do, preferably with some visual examples, someone may be able to help you quicker. E.g. Not everyone will know what you mean by “pocket folder”, “die line”, “die layer”, “spot coating”, “spot layer”, or “spot images”.
wonderings
Ok hopefully these screen shots taken from Indesign make it a bit clearer. The Die Line is how it will be cut. Artwork is below. ignore the big boxes, just covering up client info. So basically artwork is in Layer 1, Die line is in Die layer. Die layer is on top of Layer 1 so Die can be seen. Staff Callum Posted June 5, 2020 Staff Share Posted June 5, 2020 Hi Wonderings, Unfortunately the only way to do this would be to keep your line at the top of the layer stack then lock the layer. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
