Help for Facial Masks maker - How to fill in a mockup template with my own fabric pattern

Bonjour,

Sorry I am newbie about Affinity Photo and mockups. I am sorry if I am not in the right place to request help.

 

I am a sewist in France who needs your help. I am sewing batch of facial masks we need to safe people. This accessory is not funny so I ask people to choose their fabrics. I took me too much time to sew, photograph and edit all fabrics patterns I have in my stash. That's why I would like to use fabrics samples swatchs I fund on Creative Market. Unfortunately, none is for Affinity Photo and I Don't know how to do. I am sure you understand I have no time now to learn how to use Affinity Photo (but I already bought Affinity Designer to design y sewing patterns!)

I need help to explain me how I could full fill the fabric mockup with an image of the fabric.

And any image of pattern in jpeg could be used as "fabric pattern".

@ClaraLuna Welcome!  I have been trying to work with the mockup demo you supplied as a link, with absolutely no success.   In the meantime, could you just send your customers email images of sample fabrics?   If you already have images of them as JPEGs then you are half-way there.  If not, could you take pictures of your fabrics?   At that point, there is a very simple way in Photo to do this.   I have attached a step by step process.  If these are things you already know how to do, please excuse me.  I too, have been making face masks, and it is a very tedious process!   I do hope this may help.

The mockup parts are probably pixel layers, thus bitmap/raster images and not vector shapes. Styles work on vector shapes as fills, not bitmap/raster images. So a mask, textile cloth etc. would have to be a vector based drawing in order to be filled/applied with a style.

Thank you so much!  I discovered that, after much fiddling.  I then tried to create a shape with the pen tool in Designer, resembling the mockup part of the fabric sample, and found that I could apply very basic styles to it.  But when I tried anything complicated, such as a bitmap, it was a disaster.  Gave up in disgust at my own ignorance!!

Unless I’m missing something, simply dragging a fabric pattern in should work like this. The overlay layer gives the illusion of folds and the Design 3D layer is effectively a mask.

Just drag an image just under the design 3d layer and when you see an indented blue bar let go of the layer, I’ll make a quick video for you.

I have used stock images but it’s just the same with jpgs being dragged onto the workspace.

I miss Something but what. I took a picture of fabric. Then I fllowed the video (merci beaucoup).

I Don't reach the result. I think it is just a mistake but where?

Maybe it is because I use a Photo demo version?

You have to clip it underneath slightly to the right (a blue line should indicate this when dragging into the position) ...
