I am unable to get a clean transparent image.  As you can see by attached image, there is a darker transparency surrounding image.  It is definitely not clear.  What am I doing wrong? The background was white and I used the remove white paper filter then exported.  When I tried to export as a gif instead of png,  it was not a good image, but dark transparency was gone.

You can see the image is transparent but it is surrounded by a box.  When I used Photoshop Touch (no longer available) or Paintshop Pro years ago, I have never encountered this problem.

Here you go, use “selection from layer, duplicate selection removes the strange background.

Hello,

I think I have a similar problem. I try to export an image with a transparent background. The affinity file looks perfect. But it always has a white or even a grey background after the export. I tried to export a PNG, GIF and TIF, it does not work. Can anybody help me?

thanks & cheers, Nina

Follow the same directions Paul gave me and then export.  Your png should work.  I am not sure why the gif and tif do not work though.  I never had the coloration box from transparent images in other programs but Paul’s direction is a good workaround for images with layers.
