ColourPhil Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 I know its been requested already but Soft Proofing in Photo could do with a few improvements. 1) The 'paper white' (paper colour) tag wouldn't appear to be used by Affinity. This is 'Simulate Paper Color' in Photoshop. In Affinity: If you select an ICC paper profile for a high quality 'baryta' type paper, i.e. one which appears neutral and bright and soft proof it, and then one for a cheap paper, such as a 'no name glossy' with loads of Optical Brighteners which appears darker and 'blueish' you'll see virtually no (or very little) difference in the white and highlight areas of an image. Some people believe that all papers have the same 'paper white' - not true! Some are a very bright neutral, some are 'yellowish' and some are dull and 'blueish'! You want to see how something will look on your paper when printing yourself, or when exporting an image to be printed elsewhere. 2) Soft Proofing is a layer, which has to be unticked before saving, exporting or printing an image, which means that it will be applied! Very easy to leave it on by mistake. In just about every other application it only effects the view of the image on the screen and isn't applied to the actual image. Some information from my website, which those who have access to Photoshop can try : https://www.colourphil.co.uk/photoshop-proof-colour.shtml Quote
