Split View/Mirror View in Affinity Photo

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the forums.
What do you mean by the “before image” and “after image”?
While in Split View you can click on the named tab at the bottom of the window (to either side of the split) and select the View Mode for that side of the split, if that’s what you want.

Scratch that, just noticed you are using Photo.
Can you give a bit more explanation of what you mean please?

Hi Garry, thank you for your reply.

I should also mention that I am referring to the Windows version.

When adjusting an image, it is possible to compare the effect of the adjustment by comparing the adjusted image to the original image using the 'split view' or 'mirror view' options.

When using either of these options, the adjusted image appears on the left side of the screen, with the original image appearing on the right side of the screen. I'm wondering if this can be altered so that the original image appears on the left, with the adjusted image on the right, as this is an arrangement which I feel more comfortable with.

You wouldn't think it really mattered, but I must admit that I would much prefer to have the before and after images the other way around - it just seems more natural to me. Unfortunately, AFAIK, there's no way to swap them.

Yes, I agree. Have just posted this as a feature request...

Ah, you mean in the Tone Mapping Persona.
I hardly ever go in there so I hadn’t heard of it (maybe I should use it more).
I agree about being able to switch the before/after views around; it seems a bit odd the way it is to me (but like I said, I rarely go in there).

It's also available in the Develop Persona.

It's also available in about 80% of the destructive filters

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

So they are. Thanks for pointing that out.
I haven’t used the destructive filters much – I only started using Photo after the Live Filters came in – but that could be a good reason for me to think about using them more.

This dialogue stopped but nobody ever answered whether it is possible to have before and after rather than after and before, it does seen very counter intuitional

There's no option to change how it's displayed.
