Martin_1
When I duplicate a symbol and give the original a name in the layers panel, that name is automatically given to the duplication. This makes it hard to keep track of the different symbol layers.
walt.farrell
Why do you need to keep track of them? They're all the same, aren't they? Seriously, from the Help (with my emphasis) Quote A symbol is an intelligent object that can be placed repeatedly in your document. Editing any one of these symbols on the page will automatically and instantly update all instances of that symbol. To give one symbol a unique name, perhaps you need to unlink (unsynchronize) it, name it, and relink (resynchronize) it? It's not something I've ever tried, but I haven't done much with symbols yet. Staff Sean P Posted May 11, 2020 Staff Share Posted May 11, 2020 Hi Martin_1, Thanks for reporting this to us. The current behaviour you're getting however is correct and By Design. If you do wish to keep track of them you could create separate Layer objects, name those and then put the symbols inside of them.
