NeilK
Nube. Really simple issue, but I can't make it work as I expect. In multi layer Photo project, I want to erase the top of an image in one layer. I draw the marquee then Ctrl X to delete. It deletes the whole layer, not just the bit inside the marquee. Why please? I expect it is a setting somewhere. Edited May 8, 2020 by NeilK

It sounds as though the selected layer is an ‘Image’ layer. Check the designation in the Layers panel. To work at the pixel level you need to have a ‘Pixel’ layer selected. If the layer in question is currently an ‘Image’ layer, you can convert it to a ‘Pixel’ layer by right-clicking on it in the Layers panel and choosing ‘Rasterize’.
