GordonM
img044a.afphoto I scanned this line drawing and opened it in Affinity photo. I then used the unsharp mask three times and exported it as a jpeg and as a pdf. When importing the image into a book publishing website (Lulu) the following message appeared: "Transparency. We detected an element that may be transparent within your file. We strongly recommend flattening or removing any transparencies in your file". I then went back to Affinity Photo and inserted the photo (as attached below) clicked on 'document' and unticked 'Transparent layer' and clicked on 'Flatten'. However the line drawing only consists of one layer anyway so I cannot see how I can flatten the photo. My question is: how do I flatten the photo so that I do not get the above message from Lulu? Do I have to buy an expensive pdf program so that I can flatten the photo in that program?
firstdefence
You flatten the file when exporting, jpeg doesn’t have transparency but PDF can have transparency, there is a PDF Flatten option on the PDF export panel. You can also manually “scan” the file for transparency using the Info Panel. Click+hold and drag the target icon over image, as long as the A: stays at 255 you have no transparency. Old Bruce
Your problem is caused by having the entire page in your document. I selected all using Command + A and then made a new document using File > New from clipboard. Try this one in your export.
