Hello!

I just began on this new application and I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. I am sure that when I get some fundamental basics out of the way, I can refer to other tutorials for further detail.

This may sound stupid, but I cannot figure out how to fill color into the objects I create or how to properly snap loose points together. Those are the only two things I have run into trouble with so far.

Does anybody have a link to a basic tutorial or a reply on how to find and use the fill tool?

Hello LaserCow,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

What program are you referring to Photo or Designer?

For vector objects, go to the context toolbar (the toolbar right above the work area) with the Move, Node, Pen and other Tools on the Fill or Stroke squares and select the colour from on of the tabs.

You can also select a vector object on canvas and pick a colour form the Colour tab. Check the image below for info. For filling with gradients and bitmap patterns check the Gradient Tool's context toolbar.

To snap and join loose nodes check this small clip (no audio).

Let me know if you still have trouble.
