L3gacy
I would really like a way to create my own fonts in affinity designer. I don’t want to have to pay for another app to do this like “iFontMaker”. Adding this feature would be really great. I don’t know if other design apps like photoshop or procreate can do this on the iPad but I could care less. Affinity Designer is my go to so adding this feature would be a game changer for me and for other designers that utilize the iPad marketplace. Would be great if Serif made an independent Font exporting tool, I’d buy it. I can imagine it would be difficult though... probably time consuming to engineer one good enough to maintain the fidelity of the characters you create, consistently handle kerning etc.
2amuzia
Total newbie here but I saw a video where the photographed sketch was imported then converted with the pen drawing tool. Don’t know if this would be useful to you. I’m just looking for a way to get designer to load completely. It stopped and it won’t let me download it again. I went in with a different email (but the same PayPal) and was able to get affinity photo though and I’m downloading to an iPad through a teather to an iPhone. Any ideas?? kemie
To make a font you need a LOT of functionality, not only to draw the characters, but to set encoding, spacing, kerning, etc. I'd much rather Affinity focused on other features and left type design to other apps. garrettm30, Dazmondo77, Ulysses and 1 other

You may be thinking of generating a full typeface, with all special characters, and again the requirements to handle the fine tuning of text that will display consistently in body and /or headlines would be quite an undertaking... but nothing stopping you from hand rendering lettering in Designer purely as Display type
Dazmondo77
I use Birdfont which works great with Affinity, copy pastes back and fourth - just does the job https://birdfont.org 47 minutes ago, kemie said: To make a font you need a LOT of functionality, not only to draw the characters, but to set encoding, spacing, kerning, etc. I'd much rather Affinity focused on other features and left type design to other apps. Draw as many glyphs/characters as the task requires, arrange along underlying guides, kern by hand. Just a digital process of what sign makers would do back in the day Alfred and Ulysses

Just a digital process of what sign makers would do back in the day IIRC, Freehand would let you paste a graphic into a text box and it would treat it as a character, so you could set size, spacing, etc. Maybe this is the feature that you'd need, no?
