Steve Pegram
Hi guys, prior to this problem I could 'Place' an image and add effects from the 'Filters' toolbar but now it's not showing at all. I have just updated to the 1.8 version and this problem started on the older version ( cant say which ) Im a complete novice and would just like to add simple 'blur' to my images like i have been doing for the past year Thanks Steve Edited May 5, 2020 by Steve Pegram add image
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Steve Pegram. A Placed image is an (Image) layer, which is a container that is a kind of vector layer. Filters cannot be applied to vector layers; only to (Pixel) layers. So you would need to Rasterize the Placed image layer before you can apply a Filter to it. There is a way you can do this automatically, and perhaps you had this setup in the past. Check the Assistant Manager (View > Assistant Manager), where you need to have the Assistant enabled, and you need to specify the option to automatically rasterize a vector layer if you try to apply a filter: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
