layers

Hello.  New to Affinity and all photoshop.  Every time I wanna do a layer of a photo all is good and I have a few layers.. then when I add a photo from my downloads to add a layer to the original photo,, I loose the original layers. Help please.

What, exactly, are you doing to "add a photo from my downloads"?

Either File > Place, or drag/drop, should work, but drag/drop you'll need to make sure you drop it onto the existing image, or you'll end up Opening the file you're dragging, not adding it to your existing image.

Mr Farrell. thank you for the response. I cannot add a new image in the layers studio. only one image with their own layers work. When introducing a new image to add to the old image ,  it is not added to the previous layer

How are you trying to add it? 

Please be specific about the steps you take, or provide a video.

I cannot merge 2 images with layers.

Sorry, but I still do not understand what you have tried.

But, perhaps, open both images. In one, select all the layers in the Layers panel and Copy.

In the other image, Paste.

Select bird, press Command + C 
Select ocean, press Command + V

You have two documents open, and you need to copy a layer from one document to another.
