So I've got this Designer file that I was able to export to PNG at 4000x4000 just fine, but when attempting to export to 8000x8000 it just hung on the export progress window. Now it gets stuck trying to export on above 2000x2000. It can't be just my computer, because I exported the 4000x4000 just fine. This problem persists even after restarting. Opening in Photo and trying to export from there does the same thing. I'm using Windows 10.

I'm at a complete loss here, and it's extremely frustrating to be working hard on a project to have it just sit there, completed, with nowhere to go.

How about a different export file format?
A font issue, e.g. any T1/Postscript fonts used, or a corrupted font data base in Affinity or Windows?
Could you upload your .afdesign?

I suppose the issue resolved itself...the primary issue is my computer is a potato. There was no progress bar, but leaving it open for ~10 minutes gave it the time to render the output file. It's still very strange to me that more often than not the progress bar won't show itself.

Looks like it's time to upgrade. But at least Affinity has better performance than certain alternatives. 😉

Indeed, especially if one would need it, as for long duration calculations. Sometimes there is no progress bar (e.g. Estimation of export file size) and sometimes it just doesn't move (e.g. Save). – However, the lack of the progress bar was reported already quite a few times.
