VectorCat
How do I have designer update a placed asset after I've modified the placed asset, such as a photo placed in Designer, modified (after placing) in Affinity Photo? Thank you!
R C-R
Assuming that by "asset" you mean an item stored in the Assets panel, AFAIK there is no way to 'update' any of those assets. carl123
Placed images in Designer are (by default) embedded and have no link back to the original image So, if you update the original image in Photo, you will need to go back into Designer, select the image in the Layers panel then click Replace image in the context toolbar and reselect the same image again. subetha
I'm searching for a solution to the same problem. Is there REALLY no possibility to place a designer document into another without embedding??? I am working on a corporate design for a client, including quite a few different media items. If for instance i change some detail of the logo or another repeatedly used graphic object, of course I want it to be updated in every file where I placed it - no problem in Illustrator or Indesign. Do I REALLY have to update the file manually everywhere?? That would not only be tedious, but extremely prone to errors.
carl123
If you also have Publisher you can use that to change all embedded documents/images to linked documents/images in your designer document and to also specify that any new documents/images will also be linked by default. Other than that there is no other easy way that I know of to do it using Designer alone subetha 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. subetha
Okay, I just had a close look into my files. Somehow I managed to place the logo as "linked" into one of my layouts - unfortunately I don't dig how to reproduce this, can anybody help me, pleeease? 🙏 When I open this document I get about 7 notices that it has been changed outside - how can I update all of them at once? Or have them updated automatically?

subetha
I am trying, but where exactly do I find this in publisher?
subetha
I found the linking possibility, but not how to batch update.
carl123
In Edit > Preferences > General Make sure "Automatically update linked resources when modified externally" is ticked subetha 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
