I have to keep going back to GIMP to do things and it is Free, why doesn't Photo have any of these options? It cost money. But has fewer options. I was hoping to switch to Affinity for my graphic needs but.... simple in Gimp: Quote Mac MacBook Pro 15 in. OS X 10.9.5, Mid 2012 456.77 GB Affinity Design and Photo. My Strawberry Monkey Posted July 26, 2015 Share Posted July 26, 2015 I don't use gimp but i'm sure with anything if you make comparisons one will have a feature that's better than the other, i'm pretty sure Affinity Designer will have it's benefits over Gimp in some department. One workaround will be to use the rectangle tool to to draw your first line, then hold Shift + Alt and click and drag on the shape to duplicate and align the second shape, and to get your spacing correct then use power duplicate by pressing CMD+ J multiple times until you have the desired stripe pattern.Took all of a few seconds. Yes I know it might be great to have a feature built in but for those options that are not currently there, there are always workarounds and usually not that long to replicate. I miss the option to choose the exact offset rather than dragging the new object, or doing the math to position it. For example, if I wanted 1/8th inch stripes 1/4 inch apart, it would be very easy to do with the settings. Unless I am missing something, in Affinity Designer I would have to set the size of the rectangle as in CD, but then do the math to figure out where to place the second stripe before doing the power duplicate. If you had your document units set up for inches you could use the guides manager to put guides in the exact position, yes a tiny bit of maths involved to work out what a 1/8 of an inch is. If I have my first line at 0 then have a guide at 0.125 or 0.25 then power duplicate... #findsolutions.
