Please request support for a problem with this extraordinary software. How do I record a macro with text in it. Record a macro with text editing to apply at the bottom of my photos and then be able to apply to multiple photos with batch processing.

Thank you for your kindness

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

First, some suggestions:

  • You should consider editing your post and remove your email address. When you use it in the forums you make it available to spammers, and may start getting more spam becasue of that. You'll find an Edit button at the bottom of the post that will let you do that.

  • You've posted something that is either a question ("How do I... ?") or a request for a new function ("Allow macros to add text"), so it should not be posted in the Bugs forum. Questions would go in the Questions forum, and new function requests would go in the Feature Requests forum.

Also, you've posted it in a Designer forum, and Designer doesn't have macros at all, or batch processing. Both of those are Photo functions.

  • If you've tried recording a macro to add text, you have seen the error message that Affinity Photo can't record adding text in a macro. Therefore, your post might be more appropriate in the Feature Requests forum, and specifically in Feedback for Affinity Photo on Desktop. When they have time, a moderator may move this for you if they agree it is more of a feature request.

But to answer your "how do I" question: You cannot add text via a macro at this point. For a workaround, for a static piece of text like your name, or a copyright, you could make an image file with the text on it. Then you could write a macro to Place that image onto another one. I have not tried using such a macro in a batch job, so I cannot say how well it will work, especially if your images are not all the same size or DPI.

(Or, your macro could Place a text file (RTF, or DOCX, or TXT format) that you had created in a word processor or text editor. But that will also have problems with images that have different sizes or DPI values.)
