Learn how the Sponge Brush is used. Learn the difference between Vibrance and Saturation. In this Video I will explain the Sponge Brush Tool and also show you alternatives. I will tell you what Saturation is and how it is different from Vibrance. Master the Color adjustments in your images.

Hello @Multi4G,

thank you for another very interesting tutorial. I watch and appreciate your videos a lot!

As for the destructive effect of the Sponge Brush I want to suggest the following:

  1. If there is only one image layer simply duplicate it. If there is a whole set of a layer composition right click on the top layer and select 'Merge Visible'. Either one will create a copy of the image.
  2. Now do everything you explained in your tutorial. Even to a more extreme effect.
  3. Add a mask to this top layer and invert it. This brings back the original image (or composition).
  4. Now you can use a white brush on the mask and paint in the effect as desired.

This is not as non descructive as working with 'HSL' and 'Vibrance' adjustment layers but still a good compromise ... I think 🙂

Cheers,
d.
