ashf
When I export a GIF with transparency, Outline layer effect become hollow. This seems to happens on all Affinity, all platforms.
Staff MEB Posted April 24, 2020 Staff Share Posted April 24, 2020 Hi ashf, I'm seeing issues as well but not the exact effect you are showing above. Do you mind attaching your afphoto file too to add to the report? Thanks. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Wosven
It's because your stroke width value is 15.8 px. Enter an integer and it'll be fine. But since it's not an integer, the app try to simulate transparency using dithering.
Wosven
But the results are not consistent: 1. Using your parameter 2. Setting it to 16 px Setting it back to 15.
ashf
Indeed, it's inconsistent but in many case outcome is different from it should be which is wrong. I don't remember the setting I recreated the hollow problem. But it does happen for sure. even on iPad according to someone on Twitter. ashf
Finally I was able to recreate it again. And what I found is that "hollow" position changes depends on outline thickness. Sometimes inner position, sometimes outer position. hollow-outline.afphoto

ashf
This still happens in V2. And I noticed that this also happens on PNG export with the palettize option.
Staff MEB Posted November 14, 2022 Staff Share Posted November 14, 2022 Thanks @ashf. I've updated/bumped the report to bring it up to devs attention again. ashf 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
hastypixels
This seems very similar to an issue I'm having with Affinity Designer 2, exporting a black and white GIF image. The original image looks like this: (This was exported from Affinity Designer 1)' (This is the same image exported with Affinity Designer 2).
