That's caused by the aliasing. It's the white from the background coming trough the boundaries between shapes.

If you create a blue rectangle with the same size as the image (or even better a copy of the image moved down a pixel or two - you can convert the copy to a raster to speed things up) and move it to the background it should minimise that effect.
