Dale
OK this is getting to know the app and who it's aimed at, but.... when I created a slice as a way of exporting just a specific part of my document there was no visible way to actually export it. My Slices panel was not on show, there was no option in the Export dialog, no File > Export Slice option, no option/right-click or shortcut on the slice itself, and when I found how to export a slice there was no file naming step. Could the Slice panel be open by default in the Export persona, perhaps with Layers moved to a different panel group? Could there be an option to export one or more slices from the Export dialog? Could it be more obvious that slice names will be file names? Does the default 'whole design' slice need to be checked by default when there are custom slices? Aren't most people just going to want their own slices exported? Web page mockups aside. I guess it's geared up for web site and web graphics and those who know the specific design concepts, but slices can also serve simply as custom export regions for other types of designers so thought for me and them too that generic exports could be easier to achieve. Staff Ian Posted June 27, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 27, 2014 +1 for right-click slice namingfor me, slices are very useful for scratch documents with multiple assets on the page, not just front end web mockups etc. Quote Head of Creative Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! Staff Ben Posted June 27, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 27, 2014 +1 for right-click slice naming for me, slices are very useful for scratch documents with multiple assets on the page, not just front end web mockups etc. Could you elaborate on what you mean, please? You can already name slices in the Slices page - just click in the name, and the edit box should come up. Slices get default names as you create them, but you can assign your own (just as you can assign names to Layers). Thanks. Dale
I'm referring to right-clicking on the slice in the design space, in addition to the controls in the Slices panel. And to consider allowing export of slices from the Export dialog, or a similar but new Export Slices dialog that offers formatting and naming options. Ta. Staff Ash Posted July 1, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 1, 2014 However much I'm enjoying the power of the export persona, I have to say personally I'm missing the option to just simply choose export selected object/selected area from the export dialogue to quickly export a selection. Just sayin' Dale 1 Quote Managing Director Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! Staff MEB Posted July 1, 2014 Staff Share Posted July 1, 2014 Some Mac apps allow the user to select a layer or group and just drag it to the desktop to quickly export that object as a png. It's the most efficient and quickly way i have seen to get/export objects based on layers/slices. sherjeeljaved
I can't find a way to export slices as it does in photoshop where it creates an images folder and exports all selected slices to the desired destination. where is that?????. I have created slices, now how the hell do i export those. You don't have a single tutorial that completely deals with this, instead you point to your sh***y tutorials menu in the help panel, which is, of course, of no help.
