I built this with no real effort to see how I can improve on reflection, does anyone have any tips please, it would be greatly appreciated. I have used the blur but lack the knowledge to improve on it. Thanks

It´s coming along, now why not try to get some wave-like distortion in the water, I think that would work very well on this picture.

Reflections tend to be a lot darker and will fade away the taller the buildings

Some advice for learning how to do reflections would be:
1. Look at as many real-life examples as you can – not other people’s creations, look at real-life photos that have not been altered.
2. Try to find the similarities and the differences – what is always/sometimes the same, what is always/sometimes different?
3. Learn how reflections actually work by doing some reading – a good start: https://www.explainthatstuff.com/howmirrorswork.html
4. Sometimes water just looks flat and the reflection doesn’t distort (but distortions can be useful to ‘hide’ things you don't want the viewer to see).

Good tip, there are plenty of instances on the web to get an idea.
Not too sure about "flat" water, unless it´s a shallow pool water will never have a mirror surface, there is always some form of distortion or wave or ripple.

Affinty doesn´t offer an extrude tool or a chrome filter where you can create lifelike water surfaces so (in my humble opinion) the only way to get a water surface is with perlin noise that has been elongated, and has had the highlights tweaked.

I agree that it would be unusual to have any reasonably large body of water which is completely ‘flat’ (however we want to define that), all I meant was that, sometimes, the water is ‘visually flat’, meaning that the distortions are so small, or large, that we just don’t notice them.

I’m not good at doing reflections in water. Whenever I try it the result is never as good as I want.

I forgot an important advice point:
5. Experiment and play. Just keep tweaking and trying different things. Even if you don’t get what you want you might find something that happens to work better than you originally wanted, or an effect that can be used for something else.

Thank you all for the feedback. I will start playing around with water effects and looking at images of real reflections. Hopefully I can share somd Info along  the way. I might try using gimp for small adjustments if they have peeling noise.
