MikeA
1. Is there a single Publisher command that is the equivalent of executing both Align:Middle and Align:Center via a single command? 2. On a double-page spread, Align:Center puts an object in the precise center of the spread. Is there an alignment command that quickly centers an object within the page where it is located, rather than the current spread? Quote Affinity Publisher and Photo 1.8.3 (Windows). GarryP
1. I haven’t seen one, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. 2. You can change the “Align To” option in the Alignment pop-up to choose Page (or something else) instead of Spread.
h_d
As @GarryP says, you can indeed set the Align pop-up (in the toolbar) to centre the selected object(s) on the page, and this setting 'sticks': But this requires multiple mouse clicks, and you can't assign a keyboard shortcut. The menu commands (Layer -> Alignment -> Align Middle and Layer -> Alignment -> Align Centre) automatically centre the selection on the spread, with no way I can see of changing this behaviour in Preferences. And if you assign keyboard shortcuts to these commands, they will likewise only centre the selection on the spread. Setting the toolbar pop-up to "Page" has no effect on the menu commands. Might be worth a feature request? MikeA
Thanks, @GarryP and @h_d. I made what I expect is a classic newbie error. That toolbar was not showing and the alignment options weren't visible. Not sure when I hid that toolbar, but it wasn't in plain sight. Certain UI features seem to vanish on their own initiative sometimes, when I go in and out of preview mode. Maybe this was one of them. Or maybe it was just a newbie error. You're right — I think the two-centerings-in-one-command-please is worth a feature request. Quote Affinity Publisher and Photo 1.8.3 (Windows). Lenovo laptop with decidedly sub-optimal monitor. It's surprisingly laborious to centre and middle a lot of objects at the moment. Also, it would be a godsend to be able to float the alignment panel.
