I'm a novice on drawing programs and using this to draft clothing patterns.  I'm really happy with it generally having only installed it a week or so ago but I'm having problems with one aspect. When using the pen tool particularly straight line tool to automatically end lines it would be really handy to be able to know the distance to the next point. Sometimes i need to create a line of a set length to intersect another line and this is hard if its at a non vertical or horizontal. I like the CTRL hover guide but could it work on lines in any direction from the last point please?

Hello @EmmaH and welcome to the forum.

if you have Affinity Photo you can switch to edit in there. Under 'View > Studio > Info' you call up a pallett that shows several values live. One of them is the length of a straight line while dragging (it's the value 'D'' like distance).

It's too bad that we don't have this palette in Affinity Designer. And apart from that there is no measuring tool.

Hi Dominic,

Thanks for your help. I only have Designer version, its a shame that there's not a relatively simple function missing but glad I wasn't just being daft..

Regards,

Emma

Too bad then. I can imagine that at some time there will be a measuring function in AD but this is not of help for you at the moment.
