Setting up Affinity Photo as external editor in Lightroom

Recommended Posts

I am using LR standalone version 6.14 and I would like to make Affinity Photo my Additional External Editor. Is it possible to do this, and if so, how would I set it up? Can I make it my first editor, or is Photoshop or Elements the only program that can go there?

It would be wonderful if this would work!

This is a preference you define in LR, not in Affinity.

  1. - In LR go to App Preferences > External Editing > Additional Editor > "Choose..." button > select Affinity Photo.
  2. - Set your file format options in the pulldown menus below.
  3. - If you use more than one additional editor, you can optionally save your setting.
  4. - To edit an image with AP: Right-click on a thumbnail in LR will bring up a pop-up menu where you can choose between your primary editor and Affinity Photo.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. With Photo 2, you have a choice between an installer that uses MSIX technology, or one that uses the older EXE/MSI technology. It seems that LightRoom cannot handle the newer MSIX technology, so you will need to uninstall the Photo 2 you have now (right-click on it in the Start menu and choose Uninstall, or use the Windows Settings app and uninstall it from Apps). You can download the EXE form of the installer from this page: https://store.serif.com/en-us/update/universal-licence/ where you can scroll to the bottom, and expand the section that says "Looking for Windows MSI installers".
